This station serves as an interchange between the East-West Line (EWL) and the Changi Airport Line (CGL). A new platform and viaducts currently undergoing upgrading at the Tanah Merah MRT station will be ready by 2024. This will lead to shorter waiting times for commuters and greater access to Expo, Changi Business Park, Changi Airport and other places like Paya Lebar, and Tampines.

Other than Tanah Merah MRT Station is an interchange, the other nearest interchange station is just one-stop away at the Expo MRT Station which connects to the Downtown Line (DTL) as well as the upcoming Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) in 2024, thereby enhancing connectivity to the city centre and the northern parts of Singapore.
